European Research Council Consolidator Grants - UCL SLMS Information Event

The UCL SLMS Research Coordination Office, in collaboration with the UCL European Research and Innovation Office, is holding this event for SLMS research staff who are interested in applying for European Research Council (ERC) Consolidator Grants.

The ERC Consolidator Grants support excellent researchers with between seven and twelve years’ postdoctoral research to consolidate their independent research team or programme.

This event will be a great opportunity for interested researchers to find out more details and ask questions about this funding opportunity.

The deadline for the next round of ERC Consolidator Grants is Tuesday 2 February 2016.

Please note, we will only run this event if a sufficient number of attendees are registered.

Who should attend this event?
This information event is open to all active research staff within the School of Life and Medical Sciences (SLMS) who are:

  • Eligible to apply for the next call for Consolidator Grants (i.e. who will have 7-12 years of postdoctoral experience, or a corresponding amount with respect to career breaks) prior to 1 January 2016)
  • Who are considering applying to this year’s call for a Consolidator Grant to be hosted at UCL.

What are ERC Consolidator Grants?
They are personal awards to individual researchers that provide an opportunity to consolidate an independent research career. The sole evaluation criterion is the scientific excellence of the researcher and the research proposal. Principal Investigators must demonstrate an outstanding track record and the ground-breaking nature, ambition and feasibility of their scientific proposal. These schemes are very competitive, with success rates typically ~10%.

Who is eligible to apply?
Applicants must have 7-12 years postdoctoral experience prior to 1 January 2016. Additional allowances are made for career breaks e.g. maternity leave. Applications can be made in any field of research.

Where can I get more information?
The ERC call webpage can be found here.

If you have any questions about the grants please contact Claire Westwood, Strategic Research Facilitator (claire.westwood@ucl.ac.uk).
